HONOLULU – Senator David Ige’s campaign remained consistent in its grassroots approach throughout the primary, receiving the majority, 74 percent, of its contributions in amounts less than $100 in the last reporting period. His historic win in the primary—which was the largest margin of victory ever in the nation over an incumbent governor—was truly a person-to-person effort with the cost per vote at roughly $3.72.
“We really felt the momentum growing the last 10 to 12 weeks of the campaign, and we appreciate how the contributions grew, too,” Senator Ige said. “Now that our supporters brought us past the Primary, they are gearing up to continue on our historic journey to cross the finish line first in the General.”
For the campaign election cycle beginning December 2012, total receipt of contributions was $523,802.60.
