Kailua merchants are banding together to encourage consumers to  “Shop Where You Love”.  The Kaneohe Business Group has teamed up with the Kailua Chamber of Commerce to spearhead this program designed to help small, independent businesses thrive.

“For every $100 we spend at a locally owned business $45 goes back into the community, notes Daniela Stolfi  of the Kailua Chamber of Commerce.  “Spend that same $100 at a retailer who is not local, and just $13 goes back into our community.”

Participating merchants have the first bags ready for sale now.  These 100% cotton canvas bags feature an “I Love Windward” design motif and contain a membership card good for special offers at participating merchants and non-profit organizations. They sell for $9.99.

Special offers can be viewed online at www.ILoveWindward.com

Stolfi explains that any business located on the Windward side can participate. “Merchants can go to www.ILoveWindward.com and submit a listing with a special offer.  It is absolutely FREE for local businesses to participate and a fantastic way to collectively promote keeping Hawaii dollars in the community.”

Businesses can change their promotional offers by using a private and protected password. The only guidelines are that the offer be at least $5.00 in value and be exclusive to this program BAGS continue to be distributed to new Merchants daily.  Currently bags can be found at Little People Hawaii at the Windward Mall, Cinnamon’s Restaurant in Kailua, the Kailua Information Center, Lanikai Bath and Body, Lanikai Home + Style – with many more locations to come!
