REPORT FROM TNB – The 9th Annual Technology Expo for Business and Consumers, organized by Technology News Bytes, will host a Startup Corner for the first time this year. The Startup Corner will feature a live Kickstarter section, a business resource center and a “Shark Tank”-style judging competition for Hawaii’s technology startups. The Startup Corner will be held during the Technology Expo on Wednesday, October 17 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
The Startup Corner at the Technology Expo, sponsored by Startup Hawaii and The Box Jelly, will feature three main sections: The first will be a Business Resource Center for startups, where startup business owners and those interested in building a startup will be able to speak with local startup incubators like The Green House and Box Jelly and gather information to assist them.
The startup judging competition will be held “Shark Tank” style, with hopeful entrepreneurs pitching a critical panel of judges/investors. The winner will receive funding to fulfill their startup dream.
The third component of the Startup Corner will be a live Kickstarter section, where startups will have the chance to set up pledge sheets silent auction-style and anyone will be able to pledge a dollar amount.
If you are interested in participating in the Startup Corner judging competition or Kickstarter section, visit TNBLive.com/startup for an application. Application fees are a $50 deposit for the judging competition and $25 for the Kickstarter. Applications will be accepted from Wednesday, July 18 through Tuesday, September 18.
