U.S. House's Small Business Committee Meets in Honolulu-Panel to be Held Tuesday, August 9, in Waikiki

The U.S. House Committee on Small Business will host a panel discussion in Honolulu on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, to review federal government services for Hawaii small businesses and to facilitate small business access to federal government contracts in Hawaii.

Small Business Committee Chairman Donald Manzullo, R-Illinois, and Congressman Ed Case, D-Hawaii, a committee member since 2003, and other members of Congress will conduct the hearing at the Waikiki Beach Marriott, 2552 Kalakaua Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The field hearing will begin with opening statements from Manzullo and Case, followed by two panels:

”Panel I – Federal Small Business Efforts in Hawaii”

*Mr. Andrew Poepoe, Small Business Administration
*Ms. Gail Fujita, Economic Development Administration
*Mr. Ted Liu, State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism

”Panel II – Federal/DOD Procurement and Hawaii Small Businesses”

*Captain Tom Bersson, Naval Facilities Command, Pacific Division 8
*Ms. Vicky Gaynor, Small Business Council, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii
*Ms. Kathy Thurston, Thurston Pacific Inc.
