With all this talk of high gas prices justifying meddlesome price caps, it’s worth remembering that, at between 52 cents and 60 cents per gallon depending on the county, we pay the highest state fuel tax in the nation.

Dropping even half of Hawaii’s tax bite would bring our price down to what most states are paying; remarkable, considering our location.

Government justifies its meddling as necessary, in order to correct conditions created by meddlesome government. When will we learn?
