Lt. General Randy Mixon, commanding general of U.S. Army – Pacific presented the Governor with the Association of the U.S. Army Exceptional Service Award, which recognizes individuals or organizations who make a significant contribution to the Association of the U.S. Army, the U.S. Army or to national defense.
“It’s such an honor for me, and members of my Administration, to be part of the military ohana here in Hawaii,” said Governor Lingle. “I don’t know why it deserves an award – we’re simply honoring those who risk their lives for us everyday – but I’m grateful on behalf of my Cabinet.”
The Governor expressed her gratitude to State Adjutant General, Major General Robert Lee for bringing to her Cabinet a sense of military ohana and shared her appreciation for the contributions of the U.S. military day-in, day-out.
“Thank you for making Hawaii the place it is today, and for bringing peace to the world through your strength,” she said.
