PEARL HARBOR – Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific is participating in a joint small business forum with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Honolulu Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC) June 15, 2010 at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.

Presentations and workshops from the Small Business Administration, the Navy, Army, Air Force, and Hawaii small business contractors will be made at the forum.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Executive Director Tim Foreman will be the keynote speaker.

“This annual event presents the small business community in Hawaii with a great opportunity to actively engage and participate with the
Department of Defense and other federal agencies in Hawaii,” said Floria Pang, NAVFAC Pacific’s Small and Disadvantaged Business Advisor. “We’re very pleased that attendance continues to grow as more small businesses become aware of the event and take part in it.”

This year’s meeting is the eighth annual forum where representatives from the DOD present contracting information to the small business
community in Hawaii. Communication and dialogue are a major part of the forum, where questions from participants are actively encouraged.

Mr. Wallace Hirouji, NAVFAC Hawaii Supervisory Civil Engineer and Acting Construction Division Director, will be providing specific information to participants regarding the different contracting opportunities with NAVFAC.

MBEC is part of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) at the U.S. Department of Commerce, the federal agency dedicated to advancing the establishment and growth of minority-owned firms in the United States.

The June 15 forum begins promptly at 8 a.m. at the Japanese Cultural Center, 2454 S. Beretania Street, Honolulu. More information can be
found at www.dodsmallbizforum.eventbrite.com. Last year’s meeting was attended by approximately 250 people.
