Citing the focus that Brian Schatz has on economic development and jobs, four major organizations are endorsing Brian Schatz for Lieutenant Governor, it was announced today.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1357, Ironworkers Union local 625 and Operating Engineers Local 3 are endorsing former State Democratic Party Chair, Obama campaign leader and lawmaker Brian Schatz. These statewide unions, with a total of more than 7,000 members say that it’s time for strong leadership on economic development and that Schatz’s leadership in job creation is the primary reason for endorsement.
The Hawaii Venture Capital Association, a political organization devoted to developing high technology jobs in the state of Hawaii, also endorsed Schatz, underscoring his support for high-tech and economic strength over the last decade.
Gino Soquena, who leads the Operating Engineers union, comprised of heavy equipment operators across Hawaii, says, “I know Brian and I trust him. Brian is the person that our members can trust to create jobs and build a strong economy.
“We’ve thought long and hard about this race, and we believe it’s an important choice – because it’s about Hawaii’s future. We need someone who understands how to be an effective and energetic member of a team, and we have no doubt that Brian Schatz is that candidate,” says T. George Paris, who leads the Ironworkers union.
“I’m very pleased because it will take a strong partnership to keep the jobs we have in Hawaii and to create new ones. People want better leadership in job creation and want more economic momentum. That’s why I’m running – to make sure that we have a sharp focus on building our economy,” stated Brian Schatz.
Schatz’s campaign is off to a strong start both in fundraising and early private polling, and these endorsements will assist his campaign in building a statewide network of grassroots support necessary for victory.
“I’m honored by this support, because it’s a recognition that we need to focus totally on creating jobs so that our families can stay together and live in Hawaii. I’m committed to rebuilding our economy. It’s a great day for our campaign and we are very grateful,” says Schatz.
Submitted by the Schatz campaign.
If he has so many people advocating for him then I guess he is a good man and deserves the job. I hope he won't disappoint.
