Last year I had the honor and privilege of speaking at the Bakersfield Business Conference, (BBC) sponsored by Borton, Petrini & Conron, a Bakersfield, Calif. law firm.
The Bakersfield Business Conference is held in a tent.
But this isn’t just a tent, It’s a tent that seats 9000 people. It’s large enough to hold two 747 jet airplanes.
This is a tent the likes of which you’ve never seen before, because the tent is a flag. The biggest flag of the United States of America you have ever seen.
When General Norman Schwarzkopf addressed the BBC he said to George Martin, the BBC’s founder, “We’ve got to get one of these for the Army.”
The 2003 Bakersfield Business Conference is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2003, in Bakersfield, CA. For more information call 661-322-4001 or Click Here.
The Bakersfield Business Conference is not a conference.
It’s an Event!
Last year I had the pleasure of meeting:

*Mark Russell; America’s Favorite Political Satirist, and
*Jim Woolsey; Former Director of the C.I.A.
*General Hugh Shelton; 14th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,
*Alan Simpson; The former senator from Wyoming, and
*Jean Kirkpatrick; Former National Security Advisor and Ambassador to the U.N.
*Naomi Judd; Inspirational country music sensation,
*George Will; Nationally syndicated columnist, and
*Oliver North; Co-Host of Fox-TV’s “Equal Time” and “War Stories.” and
*F.W. de Klerk, Former Prime Minister of South Africa Nobel Peace Prize Recipient
I had lunch with Jean Kirkpatrick, Oliver North, Alan Simpson and James Woolsey; and dinner with Kim Campbell, Canada’s First Woman Prime Minister.
Last year’s Surprise Guest was country music star Lee Greenwood, one of America’s most patriotic entertainers.
The program closed with Rudolph Giuliani, America’s Favorite Mayor, who boarded a chartered jet right after the conclusion of a memorial service for the firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, and flew from New York City to Bakersfield.
The audience was sitting on pins and needles because they weren’t sure if he would arrive in time.
But arrive he did, with five minutes to spare.
He walked onto the stage to thunderous applause. Nine thousand people rose to their feet and cheered. Nine thousand people waved the American flag. It was one of the most exhilarating — and moving — moments of my life.
At the conclusion of Mr. Giuliani’s remarks, out walked Lee Greenwood and FDNY Battalion Chief Richard Picciotto, who had spoken earlier. Chief Picciotto was one of only six survivors from the World Trade Center terrorist attack.
Lee Greenwood sang “God Bless The USA,” with the help of 9000 friends.

It was a day to remember. A day I’ll never forget.
