– The U.S. military will be conducting aerial exercises here, July 7-11 and 14-23, as part of the Navy’s 2010 Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise.

Aircraft from USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) will be utilizing the Pōhakuloa Training Area restricted airspace. Individuals in the surrounding areas may hear some noise during the training, dependent upon weather conditions.

Hosted by Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, RIMPAC demonstrates a commitment to working with global partners in guarding the sea lanes of commerce and communication, protecting national interests abroad and ensuring freedom of navigation as a basis for global peace and prosperity.

By design, RIMPAC is a multinational exercise that prepares forces to be interoperable and ready for a wide range of potential operations. This, in turn, helps ensure stability throughout the Pacific Rim, aiding the development and prosperity of all participating nations

Fourteen nations are participating in this biennial exercise, which is occurring in and around the Islands of Hawaii through Aug. 1.
