Governor Appoints Joshua Wisch as Deputy Director of Taxation

REPORT FROM THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE  – Governor Neil Abercrombie today announced the appointment of

Joshua Wisch, Deputy Director of the state Department of Taxation

 (DOTAX), effective Dec. 11, 2012. Wisch will join the department following his outstanding work with the state Department of the Attorney General.

“Josh’s extensive experience and proven dedication to public service will be invaluable to the department,” said Governor Abercrombie. “He will be a key asset as we continue to transform state government and improve services for the benefit of all people of Hawaii.”

Tax Director Fred Pablo is looking forward to Wisch joining the DOTAX team. “Josh’s ability to find solutions to complex problems will be a welcome addition as we embark on our Tax Systems Modernization project.”

In his prior role at the Department of Attorney General, Wisch served as special assistant to the Attorney General. His duties included serving as chief legislative liaison and public information officer, and conducting special projects assigned by the AG.

Wisch previously worked within the office of Congresswoman Mazie Hirono and as a litigation attorney at Honolulu law firms Chun Kerr Dodd Beaman and Wong, and Cades Schutte.

Wisch received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, and is a member of the Hawaii Bar Association.
