Four acres on one of Hawaii’s most historic landmarks, Mount Leahi or Diamond Head, burned Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters from the Honolulu Fire Department worked to douse the flames, which started about 4 p.m., and came close enough to homes in the area to cause fire officials to stop traffic from traveling in a nearby Diamond Head neighborhood.
Hawaii has had a record number of wildfires this year — most which were believed to have been deliberately set. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
