‘Puakea Casino Night’ Will Help Fund Learning Center at He’eia State Park

On Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 4 p.m to 9 p.m., the Puakea Foundation of Hawaii, Inc. a local not-for-profit based in Kaneohe, will be holding a night of fun to help raise funds for a new Puakea Learning Center at He’eia State Park at 46-465 Kamehameha Highway.

The Learning Center will be a place where people can come to learn the art of ancient canoe building with master canoe builder Uncle Bobby Puakea.

The halau will provide the Windward community with a permanent structure where canoes come to be healed, where Hawaiian canoe building is alive and well, and a place where love for the ocean is born and shines bright.

The fundraising event will be a night of ono food, casino games, and wonderful local entertainment.  Heavy pupus will be served during the event by local chef Mark Noguchi,  “Gooch and Friends.”  

Local artist Na Palapalai, Holunape, and Manoa Madness will entertain guest throughout the night.  

A silent auction will be held where patrons can place bids on koa paddles and various other wonderful items.
