HONOLULU — At 9:50 p.m. on March 10, 2011, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center will likely sound the warning sirens around the state, urging people in flood zones throughout the state to evacuate and seek higher ground.
That after a tsunami watch has been issued for the state of Hawaii at 7:56 p.m.
An earthquake struck Japan at 7:46 p.m. (Hawaii time) off the coast of Honshu, Japan.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake’s magnitude at 8.8.
The earliest arrival would be at 2:59 a.m. on Friday, the center says.
