HONOLULU, HAWAII – Hawaii health care company Ho‘okele Health Navigators and Alert Alarm Hawaii have joined forces to help Hawaii’s kūpuna live independently at home. Ho’okele offers seniors and their family members an advanced communication and monitoring system called iHealthHome that enables families to stay connected.

The system utilizes a user-friendly touchscreen together with wireless motion sensors and medical devices to discretely monitor a senior at home and give peace of mind to a remote caregiver checking in virtually.

Alert Alarm is assisting Ho’okele in installing the iHealthHome system and motion sensors in homes statewide as well as providing continuous monitoring of the quality of the system.

“This partnership leverages our respective strengths with Alert Alarm’s expertise in installation and monitoring capabilities statewide, enabling Ho’okele to offer the health-monitoring system to families anywhere in the state, including the neighbor islands,” said Ho‘okele co-founder Dew-Anne Langcaon. “We are glad to be working together to help our kūpuna live safely in their own homes.”

John Cannon, president of Alert Alarm Hawaii, also touted the partnership of two local companies. “Keeping Hawaii safe is what we do and we are pleased to partner with another Hawaii business so together we can enhance a senior’s quality of life should he or she choose to live independently at home,” he said.

For Ho‘okele’s iHealthHome customers on neighbor islands, the partnership means Alert Alarm staff is now available to help with any troubleshooting issues and technical support.

“This is an absolute benefit for our customers,” Langcaon said. “Alert Alarm already has the infrastructure and specialized equipment in place for a quality in-home deployment, and they are trained technical professionals. We appreciate their support for our innovative technology application for healthcare.”

Ho‘okele was a finalist for Most Innovative Company in Hawaii Business magazine’s SmallBiz Success Awards for 2011. Alert Alarm was recently awarded Honolulu Magazine’s 2011 “Best of Honolulu” award for Home Security Service.
