HONOLULU, HAWAII – For 24 years, the Local Motion Surf Into Summer surf contest has kickstarted the summer season in Hawaii with their annual event held at the prestigious Ala Moana Bowls near Magic Island. As has become tradition, the event coincides with Memorial Day weekend and will take place this year beginning on May 28 and run through May 30.

Forecasts are currently calling for a fun 2- to 3-foot swell to light up the South Shore for the event.

With 12 different divisions on tap, a fun-sized swell, and the prospect of surfing nearly empty Ala Moana Bowls, this event is the perfect way to start your summer off on the right foot.

“This is the 24th year we’ve held this event and it’s always been a lot of fun. It’s definitely a great way to get your summer started,” said Local Motion’s Tim Mock. “Plus, how often do you get to surf Bowls with only a handful of other people out?”

With divisions ranging from Shortboard Menehune to Women to Longboard to Senior Men and everything in between, the Local Motion Surf Into Summer truly has something for everyone.

Come join Hawaii’s top amateur surfers at Ala Moana Bowls this Memorial Day weekend as we start this summer off right!

Big mahalos to all of the sponsors who’s support makes this event a reality: Quiksilver, Roxy, Jamba Juice, Vitamin Water, Freesurf Magazine, Star 101.9, and Freestyle watches.
