One of the reasons given for denial of the approval of Malulani medical center on Maui is there are not enough doctors to staff more than one hospital on Maui.
The current exodus of doctors from Maui is due to the poor conditions they have to work in.
Another irony: It was said that Malulani would cater only to the wealthy, but as it is now, only the wealthy can go to Honolulu or the mainland for quality health care.
If the people of Maui are forced to live with the status quo, the crisis we are in will drive the quality of our health care down even further and more doctors, nurses, visitors and concerned residents will leave.
