The Animal Care Foundation and Hawaii Reporter have launched a partnership to introduce Oahu’s loveable furry friends – dogs and cats – in need of adoption.

Benjamin

The Animal Care Foundation, a “no kill” facility located at 6650 Hawaii Kai Drive, Suite 105 in Hawaii Kai, (Phone: 808-396-3333/ contact@acfanimals.org) is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for Tuesdays when the foundation is closed

It is the best place to adopt a pet, according to staffer Robyn Washousky, because The Animal Care Foundation is the only animal adoption agency offering comprehensive preventative care such as heart worm tests and vaccinations before adoptions. The non-profit 501-c-3 organization also is making the effort to match animals’ needs/personalities to families’ needs/personalities.

The Foundation has a referral rewards program as well. “When people refer their friends and family to us, and the adoption is finalized, they receive $10 towards services at our clinic or in the form of a check,” Washousky said.

The animals currently up for adoption are featured on Facebook every week: www.facebook.com/theacfhawaii

Each week, dogs and cats will be featured:

Animal Care Foundation: Guinness, our teenage dream dog

Benjamin, the spunky senior, is now up for adoption. Found in Waimanalo, no one has come for this guy so it is time for a new family to show him what LOVE is.

He has since been neutered and had some dental work to give him that big pearly white grin.

If you are interested in adopting him, please complete our application atwww.acfanimals.org or send us an e-mail acfanimals@gmail.com

Love Pit Bull Terriers? Us too! Meet Guinness, our teenage dream dog. Weighing in @ 72lbs, this lovable young dog is just about 2 years old and eager to please.
Guinness needs a stern and knowledgeable guardian or foster who is familiar and comfortable with the pit bull mentality and strength.
He needs a larger play area and must have daily exercise. All potential adoptees/fosters are required by the ACF Veterinarian to have 3 full training sessions with one of our staff for helpful hints and valuable instructional aid.
With the right home and family we’re sure his personality will shine. Please visit our website www.acfanimals.org to fill out an online adoption or foster application if you think you or someone you know would match well with this big softy.

Tiana is one of our Adorable Kittens at ACF. Tiana, now 4 months old is ready for a new forever home.

This Domestic Medium haired kitty is a ball of love…she’s calm and sweet. Tiana is happy lounging around & being admired for her soft, fluffy coat. This truly beautiful rescue would make a great feline friend for the right person or family.

Tiana

Come in to meet Tiana and our other kittens for some furry love.

You can also meet little Ella. We’re looking for a forever home for this elegant and sweet little kitty.

Ella loves to be cuddled and would make a great lifelong companion.

She’s 9 months old and is growing into a very independent and bright girl. Come into our clinic to meet her if you’re interested! It only takes about a week to process and there’s no adoption fee.

If you would like to bring a loveable animal into your life, please stop in to visit the shelter from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., send us an e-mail, or visit the website www.acfanimals.org for more information.

In addition to adoptions, the Animal CARE Foundation promotes:

  • The humane trapping/neutering/return of outdoor dogs and cats
  • Low or no cost neutering of animals for families, as well as for other rescue organizations across the island

    Ella
  • Medical support of feral cat caretakers
  • Abandonment prevention assistance for families in need
  • public education on the effectiveness of trap/neuter/return and the importance of spaying and neutering family animals, and
  • Lobbying for a statewide no-kill animal shelter program.

“It is our sincere hope that, through education and advocacy, humans will learn to stop treating animals as commodities and start treating them as emotional beings equal to ourselves. Only then we will truly conquer the disposable animal problem,” the shelter director said.
