Pyramid Rock Championship this Weekend – Public Invited

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII (MCB HAWAII), KANEOHE, HAWAII – Marine Corps Community Services’ (MCCS) Semper Fit Aquatics program will hold the 6th Annual Pyramid Rock Bodysurfing Championship at Kaneohe Bay on January 14 and 15 (holding period goes through February 19). Competition start time is 7:00 a.m. and will run through 4:30 p.m. both days. This event is open to both military members and the public. Entries are still welcome!

During the winter months, MCB Hawaii’s Pyramid Rock has some of the island’s best waves even rivaling those on the North Shore. The competition however is open to body surfers of all levels and will showcase some of Hawaii’s up and coming amateur body surfers as well.

Registration is open online or by visiting the MCB Hawaii Main Base Pool at Kaneohe Bay. Registration fees are $15 for military and $20 for civilians. A late fee of $5 will be assessed for registration after January 9.

About MCCS Aquatics: Aquatics is a Semper Fit program overseeing all pools and beaches at MCB Hawaii. Water safety is a primary focus at MCB Hawaii and the Aquatics program provides a variety of classes year-round to teach and enhance existing aquatic-based recreational skills at every level. MCB Hawaii has four pools, two at Kaneohe Bay and one at Manana Housing, and one at Camp Smith. There are four beaches at Kaneohe Bay which are ideal for swimming, snorkeling, surfing and bodyboarding.
