Expert Panel to Tackle Traffic, Growth, Development at February 29 Event

An all star panel of international, national and Hawaii experts will gather at the Mission Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday, February 29 from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. to brief the public on development, major infrastructure projects and transportation and offer solutions to traffic congestion on O‘ahu.

There is no cost to attend the event, which is sponsored by the American Dream Coalition (ADC) and the Small Business Hawai‘i Educational Foundation.

Noted national and international experts John Charles of the Cascade Policy Institute, Wendell Cox of Demographia, Adrian Moore of the Reason Public Policy Institute, and Randal O’Toole of Cato Institute will discuss transit-oriented development such as rail, the selection of infrastructure projects to stimulate the economy and increase employment yet reduce congestion and urban sprawl.

Hawaii experts include University of Hawaii engineering professor Panos Prevedouros, University of Hawaii Law Professor  Randall Roth and Architect Peter Vincent, who will focus on strategies to preserve Oahu’s cultural treasures, aesthetics and agricultural land.

Several of the experts also will speak at a Kapolei town hall meeting at Kapolei Hale on Tuesday, February 28, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The topic is West Oahu Development: Meat and Potatoes or Gravy Train?

Cliff Slater of HonoluluTraffic.com said these experts will give “the rest of the story” that is not getting out to the public on all these important topics.
