HONOLULU – Mark your calendar for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii’s (RMHC-Hawaii) “Share A Night” annual gala. Tables are available for the Saturday, November 23 event at the Sheraton Waikiki. This year’s honorary co-chairs are Dennis Francis, Honolulu Star-Advertiser president and publisher and Jim Polk, Bank of Hawaii senior executive vice president.

“This year’s gala, just a week before Thanksgiving, focuses on giving thanks to everyone in Hawaii who helped and supported the Ronald McDonald House throughout the years,” said Jerri Chong, RMHC-Hawaii president. “We dedicate this evening to the thousands of families that have called ‘The House That Love Built’ their home.”

The night of the gala will be full of delicious food, live and silent auctions and entertainment by legendary performer Melveen Leed; saxophonist extraordinaire Michael Paulo; Hawaii’s first American Idol finalist Jordan Segundo; Brian Robertshaw; and the Hawaii Vocal Arts Ensemble, under the direction of Musical Director Timothy Carney. Entertainer Al Waterson will be the evening’s emcee.

Tables are available at the following levels: Koa $15,000, Maile $10,000, Ilima $5,000 and Pikake $3,000. Individual seats are $225 per person. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii (RMHC-Hawaii) offers support for families with seriously ill children by operating two Ronald McDonald Houses in Manoa Valley. Families from the neighbor islands and around the Pacific may stay there when they come to Honolulu seeking medical care for their children. Each year, hundreds of families make Ronald McDonald House their “home-away-from-home.”

RMHC-Hawaii also provides the Ronald McDonald House Family Room, a respite and support center at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. At the Family Room, most of those assisted are from Oahu.

RMHC-Hawaii programs strengthen and support families during a very difficult time. For a child, having family members nearby to give love and comfort may be as crucial as medical care itself.

RMHC-Hawaii relies heavily on community support to keep the Houses running, not only through monetary donations, but also through countless hours of personal time committed by volunteers.
