HONOLULU  – On Friday, Nov. 1, aspiring local youth entrepreneurs will debut their original business ideas through a collection of online crowd funding campaigns. The business ideas were created and produced at Camp BizGym, a week-long camp held earlier this year that taught “#Kidpreneurs” how to produce and implement a viral media strategy and develop a fundraising campaign for their ideas via crowd funding platforms, online sites that allow for individuals to make pleas for worthy projects, rallying the support of the public to make their ideas a reality.

“Camp BizGym is excited to share the fantastic ideas of our Kidpreneurs, who have worked incredibly hard over the past few months to develop and implement these crowd funding campaigns,” said Steve Sue, founder of Camp BizGym. “We invite the public to join us in supporting these inspiring groups of young individuals, who truly represent the next generation of Hawai‘i’s business leaders, by donating to the campaigns and helping us bring these unique ideas to life!”

Videos sharing the #Kidpreneurs videos can be found at https://campbizgym.com/, with some of the campaigns hosted on crowd funding sites such as Indiegogo.com and Kickstarter.com. 100 percent of the funds donated to the Camp BizGym campaigns go directly to the individual student teams to support their business ideas. To donate, simply click on the Paypal button located under each video.

This year’s Camp BizGym business ideas include a Native Hawaiian games mobile app, a shave ice food truck, an “Omiyage Box,” a family board game, night surfing lights, an instant mochi mix, a bio-thermal cooling shirt, and a tropical lemonade line.

Camp BizGym, a BizGym Foundation program, was held earlier this summer at Mid Pacific Institute. The camp featured mentoring workshops on script-writing, shooting and editing. Over 30 students from eight different teams representing public and private schools on O‘ahu participated in the camp, with approximately half of the spots filled by scholarship winners from the Lemonade Alley Kid-Biz Contests, another BizGym Foundation program.
