The public has been bombarded with television and radio commercials promoting the local Obamacare exchange, Hawaii Health Connector.

But how much are taxpayers spending on these commercials, which encourage the public to sign up for health insurance through Obama’s exchange?

The Hawaii Health Connector won’t disclose that information, and doesn’t have to, it said.

The organization received $200 million in federal funding to set up the exchange, promote the services and develop the web site.

However, it was set up by the Hawaii legislature as a non profit and independent agency and is not a part of state government.

The exchange would only say in response to Hawaii Reporter’s inquiry “In this contract award release [https://www.hawaiihealthconnector.com/hawaii-health-connector-signs-key-contracts/] $1.2 million was allocated to  MVNP for market research, communication strategy and public relations to raise awareness about the Connector – this includes advertising. Further breakdown of the advertising budget is within the contractual relationship between the Connector and MVNP and contains proprietary information.”

  1. Obamacare helped earn the "Lie of the Year" award for its namesake. Just shows what can happen when you have an inept President who surrounds himself with an equally inept bunch of sycophants in his administration.
