HONOLULU — Surfrider Spirit Sessions is pleased to announce its first Surf to the Turf Golf Tournament, sponsored by Capital One 360, Tropical Wholesale, Bishop & Company, Edward Enterprises, and Lance Higa Painting. Check-in begins at 11:30 am with a 1:00 pm shotgun start at the Hawaii Kai Championship Golf Course on Friday, February 28, 2014.
“Spirit Sessions surf mentors make a lasting impression on the adjudicated and at-risk teens we serve. We’re raising funds and awareness with this golf tournament and invite active community adults to get involved as golf and as volunteers in our eco-therapy, ocean-based education youth mentoring program,” said Board President Karen Radius.
Have fun and help Hawaii’s youth at the same time. Visit the group’s website www.surferspirit.org to reserve your team of four, sponsor the event, or donate prizes. Call Dr. Kevin Fujimoto, Interim Executive Director at (808) 218-8733 for more information.
There are over 5,000 youth in Hawaii’s juvenile justice system. Many have been victims of abuse and neglect and are struggling to survive. Surfrider Spirit Sessions is a grassroots non-profit organization that works with Hawai’i State Family courts to match delinquent teens with volunteer adult surf mentors.
Since 2006, Surfrider Spirit Sessions programs have effectively motivated adjudicated and at-risk youth to transform into healthy productive community members. Help support teenagers get stoked on life and get out of the juvenile justice system. We’re Catching Waves and Changing Lives!
