REPORT FROM FORMER GOV. LINDA LINGLE’S CAMPAIGN – Former Governor Linda Lingle, candidate for Hawaii’s open U.S. Senate seat, released the following statement today regarding the endorsement she has received from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

“I recently received word that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is officially endorsing my campaign for Hawaii’s open U.S. Senate seat.  As the nation’s leading organization that supports America’s small businesses – with over three million member businesses – I am honored and humbled by their support.

“I am also pleased the U.S. Chamber has backed up their endorsement with a television schedule that reinforces my bipartisan position on growing our local economy.

“Like me, the U.S. Chamber recognizes that the time for partisan bickering is over. We must work together to establish bipartisan solutions that will help boost our economy.  For Hawaii, these bipartisan solutions must start with a plan to increase tourism, which will grow our local economy and create jobs for our residents.

“If elected, I will utilize Hawaii’s unparalleled experience in the tourism industry to focus national attention on the importance of expanding and developing tourism to help drive America’s economic recovery. One component of my detailed plan is creating a standing subcommittee on tourism in the U.S. Senate.
