Ahu for lt governorHONOLULU – Standing at the base of the Queen Lili’uokalani statue at the Hawaii State Capitol with more than fifty of his closest family and friends, Elwin Ahu filed his official nomination papers to be a Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor. The former district court judge and senior pastor spoke about the need for reasoned and compassionate leadership in Hawaii.

“I’m excited today because “It’s Time!”  It’s time to return the government back to its people and to restore their faith, trust and confidence in its leaders. It’s time for reasoned and compassionate leadership to guide our state. And that’s why I’m running for Lt Gov. of the State of Hawaii,” said Ahu.

“Hawaii deserves leaders who are committed to reason, and compassionate to the heart and spirit captured in our state motto: ‘Ua mau ke ea o ka aina I ka pono; The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.’ It meant something special when it was written. It still means something special today.  It’s time to stand up and give people the choice to elect that kind of leader.”

Retired Honolulu Fire Department Chief Kenneth Silva commented on his support for Ahu. “I think Elwin brings a particular skill set. And it starts with just the man himself. It’s the integrity that he has that is inherent in everything he does.”

“It’s been amazing to experience the sheer volume of support Elwin has gotten since he announced his intent to run in February. Today’s crowd is only a sliver of the thousands who have already pledged their support for him, and I look forward to gaining more and more momentum for the Ahu campaign as we go on our twelve-stop statewide kick off tour beginning next week,” commented Lani Kaaa, Ahu for Hawaii Campaign Manager.
