Governor Abercrombie on Personal Leave till Friday

REPORT FROM THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE – Governor Neil Abercrombie is on personal leave beginning today, May 15, 2012 to May 18, 2012.

The Governor will be visiting family in New York State during this time.

Lt. Governor Brian Schatz will be Acting Governor for the duration of Governor Abercrombie’s absence.



On Friday, May 18, 2012, Lt. Governor Schatz will travel to Taiwan and Korea where he will meet with officials, including the president of Taiwan, to promote tourism in Hawai’i and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on energy cooperation.

In January 2012, Governor Abercrombie assigned Lt. Governor Schatz to head an aggressive energy initiative for the State of Hawai’i that includes seeking national and international partnerships.

Lt. Governor Schatz departs on Friday morning at which time Attorney General David Louie will serve as Acting Governor until Governor Abercrombie returns from his trip at 5:30 p.m.
