HONOLULU – Following up on its successful first season, the Hawaii Pops, Hawaii’s first independent pops orchestra, today announced its second season schedule.  There will be six concerts, broken up into two distinct types of performances, each with a unique charm.

The “Concert Series” will be held at the venerable Hawaii Theater, and promises a lively evening of popular music from different genres in an historic atmosphere.  Hawaiian music artists Amy Hanaiali’I and Willie K and jazz superstar Dave Koz headline these performances.

The Hawaii Pops will also bring its energetic stylings to the Sheraton Waikiki Ballroom for its “Nightclub Series,” which will feature music, food, drinks and dancing.  Music-lovers will be treated to the sounds of the Beatles, Steely Dan, Chicago, and the era of the 80’s.  Pop music star Taylor Dayne will also make a special appearance.

“We are so jazzed about this upcoming season,” said Matt Catingub, artistic director of Hawaii Pops. “We had a great first season and entertained a lot of people, and this next slate of concerts is every bit as good.”

Hawaii Pops Executive Director Donna Bebber agrees. “We created some great momentum with concerts featuring stars like Jo Dee Messina, Sheena Easton and Al Jarreau, and we’re looking to carry that over into the next season, which will have something for everyone.”
