FILE–The first commercial flight by a Boeing 777 arrives at Dulles Airport in Dulles, Virginia, June 1995.

The 777 aircraft has become one of Boeing’s most popular aircraft since it was first built in 1995.

It is a very wide and extremely modern high-tech plane that Boeing calls the “backbone and workhorse” of the long-haul fleets of many airlines.

Boeing has built more than 1,000 777s.

U.S. federal officials say the plane had a nearly perfect safety record before last year’s crash of an Asiana Airlines flight in San Francisco, in which three people were killed. Pilot error is suspected in that accident.
