Commencement ceremony for UH West Oahu this Sunday, 3 p.m., Hawaii Theatre

HONOLULU, HAWAII – This Sunday, Dec. 18, is a special day for 142 University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu graduates who will earn their degrees and certificates during commencement ceremonies at the Hawai‘i Theatre in Honolulu.

UH West O‘ahu graduates will receive baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, Education, Humanities, Public Administration and Social Sciences. Graduates will also receive certificates in various programs including Applied Forensic Anthropology, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, and Health Care Administration.

University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents Vice Chair James Lee and University of Hawai‘i System President M.R.C. Greenwood will address the graduates. Adam Nahulu, one of this year’s outstanding UH West O‘ahu graduates, will speak on behalf of the graduating class.

Nahulu, who is earning a bachelor’s degree in Humanities with a concentration in Hawaiian-Pacific Studies, is a member of UH West O‘ahu’s inaugural 2007 freshman class as well as the Hawaiian-Pacific Studies Club. He serves as a tutor with Kealaikahiki, UH West O‘ahu’s Native Hawaiian program.

Commencement tickets will be distributed to graduates and are required for guest admission to Hawaii Theatre. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. to ticket holders only and the ceremony begins promptly at 3 p.m. No strollers, tripods or balloons are allowed in the theatre. Graduates will be able to greet guests after the ceremony at China Gateway Park, located next to Hawaii Theatre, around 4 p.m.
