WAILUKU, Maui, Hawai`i – The County of Maui Office of Economic Development (OED) will rollout the “Maui Friday Town Parties” initiative at a press conference on Wednesday, November 2nd at 1 p.m., in the Mayor’s Conference Room.
“Wailuku merchants have done a fantastic job revitalizing their businesses with their First Friday celebration,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa. “It’s time we duplicate their success in other towns across the County.
These events will spur local people and visitors to go to our small towns and enjoy the historic and unique nature of these business communities.”
The press conference will introduce the overall concept of Maui Friday Town Parties, showcase the website, unveil logos for each town and explain the thought behind the designs. Media will be invited to participate in Q&A at the end of the conference and logo image files will be made available for their use.
Following in the footsteps of Wailuku’s successful “First Friday,” and Paia’s “Fourth Friday” celebrations, Maui County has partnered up with Makawao and Lahaina town coordinators as well. The Maui town party schedule starting November 4th will be as follows: Wailuku – First Friday, Lahaina – Second Friday, Makawao – Third Friday, Paia – Fourth Friday.
