The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today released a new Global Strategy Group poll that shows Democrat Colleen Hanabusa gaining ground and leading Republican Representative Charles Djou by 4 percent.

In the initial head-to-head in the race for Hawaii’s 1st congressional district, Hanabusa leads Djou 48 percent to 44 percent.  Conducted October 4-6, the poll surveyed 400 likely voters and has a 4.9 percent margin of error.

“The more people in Hawaii learn about Charles Djou’s record – which Djou has tried everything in the book to distract attention from – the more they realize just how out of touch Djou is,” said Andy Stone, Western Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  “As this poll makes clear, whether it’s Djou’s opposition to Wall Street reform, extending emergency unemployment benefits or needed funds for Hawaii schools, Hawaii voters know Charles Djou just isn’t looking out for their interests.”
