So, who’s throwing Grandma under the bus and has no clothes on, President Barack Obama or the Republicans?
On April 5, 2011, Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin presented the GOP’s 2012 budget plan “The Path to Prosperity,” which reduces the government’s debt by $6 trillion in 10 years. One key point in the budget addresses is a cure for Medicare.
The Republican’s 2012 budget plan, under Medicare, those 55 years and older continue to keep the plan. Those under 54 years continue to be subsidized as needed when they reach that ripe old age; as needed is the key. Those of us who can afford healthcare won’t receive subsidies for Medicare. However, we will be offered the same health care options that members of Congress enjoy. Furthermore, one of the key points in the Republican’s plan it “repeals and defunds Obama Care, advancing common-sense solutions focused on lowering costs, expanding access and protecting the Doctor/Patient relationship.”
And no sooner that this announcement was made the Progressives in Congress and even the President, who sounded like our chickens cackling away after receiving their daily talking points memo, were screaming out that our grandparents will be forced to eat cat food under the Republicans plan.
However, under the constitutionally challenged Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, “Obama Care,” that the majority of American’s disapproved of and still do, the Progressives cut over $500 Billion dollars from Medicare. They also set up committees to govern who gets medical aid or not, you know those death counseling boards.
And, these are the same folks who signed this eye blistering 2700 page bureaucratic nightmare called “Obama Care” without reading it. Like the former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, said, “We have to pass it to see what’s in it;” what a bunch of hypocrites!
There’s one thing for certain folks, Social Security and Medicare are dead in the water and something has to be done. And, I guarantee it’s not because of the “Baby Boomers,” it’s the 546 elected politicians in Washington D.C.
The real underlying issue is the 2012 budget. “The Path to Prosperity” is the House of Representatives response to President Obama’s original 2012 budget proposal which created a $1.8 Trillion dollar deficit that he presented back in February of this year.
Representative Paul Ryan’s timing couldn’t have been better. President Obama had just announced his bid for re-election igniting his 2012 presidential campaign and literally got caught with his pants down. How poetic was that, especially since the President and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to complete one of their most important Constitutional duties, the implementation of the 2009/2010 Federal Budget!
This was a chess move gone badly. Pelosi’s tactic was not to put her Democrats, who were up for re-election, in jeopardy who may have voted for a budget back then that didn’t sit well with the electorate.
Well as we all know history was made on November 4, 2010, with the largest Republican takeover of the House of Representatives in years. However, Pelosi’s other tactic was also to put the 2009/2010 budget on the GOP, but it didn’t work. As the 6 month delayed Federal budget was coming down to the wire and a Government shutdown was looming on the horizon, President Obama realized that he ultimately was going to be held accountable; oops.
He alone during a Government shutdown determines what departments within the Federal Government are essential to keep running; and making the wrong decision on who gets paid could in fact have serious consequences in his re-election campaign.
So, not only did President Obama under “Obama Care” throw Grandma under the bus, but the “Emperor” got caught wearing no clothes with not only his past failure to propose a 2009/2010 budget, he got shown the mirror having to suggest a 3rd budget on April 13, 2011, in a last ditch effort to counter the Republicans budget proposal for the fiscal year of 2011/2012; which in contrast was a failure compared to the Republicans heroic efforts in tackling our Nations debt.
And we know the “Emperor” realized he had no clothes on because he doesn’t particularly appreciate being one upped, that’s why he had Representative Paul Ryan sitting in the front row during his counter reactionary speech humiliating Ryan and the GOP for nearly 30 minutes while attempting to introduce his 3rd budget proposal. Of course we all know he has a past history of ridiculing people; remember our Supreme Court and his State of the Union speech last year. Well, isn’t that just a typical response from a Progressive, an extreme Progressive.
Now we have lurking on the horizon is the Federal debt ceiling; yet another crisis created by, yes the President. Because, of his elaborate spending sprees from 2008-2010, he wants to raise the debt ceiling to continue his splurge. However in 2006, as Senator Obama he had a different view as he chastised our leadership during a speech on the Senate floor:
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
So, now that President Obama seems to be tripping while attempting to find his clothes during his ongoing re-election campaign, on April 18, 2011, the Standard and Poor’s folk came out with an economic report regarding the United States’ credit standing, lowering our current credit rating from “Stable” to “Negative.” Whoa, what’s up with that? Does that mean, with the disproportionate amount of continued spending, these virtually unaccountable political elitists have failed with their alleged economic solutions? You bet they did.
Since President Obama is by far the most fiscally irresponsible President we have ever had, I’m urging everyone to contact our members of Congress to vote NO on raising the Debt Ceiling. This will force President Obama and Congress to cut spending. Otherwise, you and I are up a creek with no paddle.
Remember, because of the actions of 546 individuals in Washington D.C. is why we are experiencing this economic quagmire; so we have to make the right choices in November 2012. There are over 300 million of us and we can make it happen.
This is one man’s opinion and I’m entitled to it.
