Thanks for your story – “Happy Birthday, Hawaii – Some of Us Still Remember” that talks about Hawaii’s unwillingness in recent years to recognize the day it was admitted to United States.
Kudos to you and others who celebrate the red, white and blue. I have lived in this beautiful state for 17 years, and have enjoyed the rich multi-cultural environment, but in recent years the atmosphere has become increasingly tainted as disgruntled radicals and their followers try to make their mark.
I was born and raised in South Africa, and I know what it’s like to live amongst hate and prejudice. It saddens me greatly to see this negativity here in paradise.
Your story reminds us that we must be ever vigilant about whom we elect to run our state. I voted for Gov. Linda Lingle, as did many colleagues and friends, hoping that she would keep her promises, only to have our trust betrayed.
Thank you for your outspoken truthfulness that keeps us informed about the welfare of our state.
Happy Admissions Day.
