MAUI — The 12th Annual Meadow Gold Dairies Maui Healthy Baby Contest, a celebration of National Children’s Health Month, is scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the 89th Maui Fair,10:30 am at the Main Entertainment stage.   KPOA Morning Goddess Alakai Paleka will host the event.

Applications for the Healthy Baby Contest are available at participating neighborhood markets: Ah Fooks; Haiku Grocers; Cash and Carry , VIP; Takamiya Market as well as the eight (8) Minit Stop locations island-wide.

The first 90 babies to register, between the ages of 12 to 24 months on October 1, 2011 will be eligible to participate in this free event.  Parents should complete the application form and write a short introduction of their child in 30 words or less describing, “What makes your child Maui’s Healthiest Baby?”

Applications are to be mailed or dropped off to Meadow Gold Dairies at 55 S. Wakea Avenue, Kahului, HI 96732 by Friday, September 23, 2011.  The first 90 babies will compete for prizes and fun to be the 2011 Meadow Gold Healthy Baby for Maui!

The 2011 Maui Healthy Baby Winner and 4 place winners will receive valuable prizes including U.S. Savings Bonds; gas coupons from Minit Stop, prizes from Takamiya Market, Maui Thing, GEICO, Ah Fooks Round Table Pizza and logo items from Meadow Gold Dairies and gifts and prizes from our sponsors.   Two nights at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas will also be awarded to the 2011 Healthy Baby winner.

A maximum of 90 contestants will receive a goodie bag from Meadow Gold Dairies, a portrait sitting from Photography by Irvin and prizes from Round Table Pizza and GEICO.

To kick up Meadow Gold will also have ice cream and POG drinking contests for the audience during contest intermission.

Meadow Gold Dairies’ Healthy Baby Contest program has been an Island tradition since 1953. Each Healthy Baby Contest held statewide gives proud parents the opportunity to showcase their healthy keiki in a setting that promotes the importance of proper health and nutrition beginning at an early age.
