Washington, D.C. – The Department of the Interior’s Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Areas, Tony Babauta today signed a Capital Improvement Project grant award in the amount of $365,653 allowing the Guam Community College (GCC) to move forward with architecture and engineering designs for DNA lab and toxicology facilities at the campus’s Gregorio D. Perez Crime Lab.
“For many years now, GCC, under the leadership of its President Mary Okada, has worked to diversify its curriculum and offer students educational opportunities to be on the cutting edge in various professional fields,” said Babauta. “Expanding GCC’s Criminal Justice program, with the addition of a DNA lab and toxicology facilities, strengthens GCC’s curriculum and places the institution at the forefront of criminology and forensic science in the region.”
