Election Fever, Hawaiian Style

BY NACIA LEE BLOM – Every time the weather changes I get sick. The current change to “winter” weather is no different, but this time instead of the flu, I caught election-fever. I’ve been around politics my entire life and I still get excited when I see sign-wavers and canvassers. (Although truthfully, I can do without the phone calls and the ads at every commercial break.)

Word on the street is that the 2010 elections will be a game-changer. With five days to go and lots of choices to make, Grassroot Institute has provided excellent resources to help you make informed decisions. Like my dad always says, an informed voter is the best voter. So get informed! In this week’s Freshcut we’ve highlighted some of the best tools and resources Grassroot Institute has compiled.

Want to know if your legislator or candidate signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge? Or how your legislator voted on a particular bill? I encourage you to read below for some great resources not only from Grassroot, but from Hawaii Reporter and Smart Business Hawaii as well. These tools have helped me and I know they will do the same for you.

One week from Saturday, we invite you to meet a key national leader in protecting the 2nd Amendment. Sandy Froman, former president of the NRA, will be the guest speaker at a luncheon hosted by the Hawaii Rifle Association. Please see below for more details on this opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there.

Until then–see you at the ballot box!

Happy Voting!

Nacia Lee Blom is the Director of Advancement for the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii
