BY JAMES AROLA —

Aloha Family and Friends,

I decided to run for the Board of Education’s Leeward district for a variety of reasons.    Above all, I will be a voice for our students, parents, teachers and working families.  I am a working parent that understands the daily pressures of life.  We need to support each other to ensure success for the children of Hawaii.

My main focus will be on our students (first and foremost).  In every proposal, decision and or directive, we need to ask ourselves; “Will it positively affect the students of Hawaii”?  If not, we need to reconsider.  Our children are too important.  We only have one chance with our kids and we cannot fail.

As a parent, taxpayer and concerned citizen, I want more information about our school system.  As a board member, I will foster more involvement and communication between teachers, administrators, the school board, parents and the community.  I will work hard to help our community understand how our schools function through focus groups (online, conference calls, or in person).  In addition, we need to harness ideas from multiple stakeholders such as teachers with children in the public school system.

We have a wealth of resources in our community.  We owe it to our children to keep our classrooms equipped during these difficult economic times. By creating innovative volunteer and mentoring programs, we can provide meaningful interventions for our students that will create greater success down the road.

Please allow me to represent you on the Board of Education.  Vote for “James Arola” in the November 2, 2010 general election.

Aloha.
