Former state harbors official Wesley H. Choi has been charged with stealing state funds worth more than $20,000.
Choi resigned last year as assistant district manager of the Oahu small boat harbors division after the Attorney General’s office commenced an investigation of him.
A criminal complaint filed against him today by Deputy Attorney General Vince Kanemoto charged Choi with theft, two counts of forgery and use of a computer in the commission of a crime.
The complaint alleges that the theft offinse was committed between May 2008 and March 2011.
The forgery counts allege that Choi in 2008 forged what purported to be a “procurement bid” from Keehi Marine, Inc., operator of a boatyard at Sand Island on the Honolulu waterfront.
Choi is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in Circuit Court.
