BY RET. GENERAL ROBERT LEE – Aloha and welcome to the start of a new week. Recently we had a small bit of good economic news, with sustained increases in jobs reported by government data. However, news reports at the tail end of last week about rising gas prices and the increasing cost of living in the U.S. bore a grim reminder that we are far from the path to real opportunity and prosperity that we need to be. We simply MUST elect leaders like Gov. Linda Lingle who will focus on the critical issues affecting our economy.
Fortunately, she has the ISSUES on her side, and she’s out there every day sharing with the people of Hawaii real solutions that can positively impact our economy and their lives NOW. You don’t need a news report to tell you how much gasoline prices have spiked recently. Energy remains a critically important issue that resonates with everyone Governor speaks with. Her record of success, including with the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative launched during her Administration as Governor, shows she has the right focus and understanding of the need to diversify our energy sources and encourage market development of renewable fuel to wean us off imported foreign oil and its high cost and toll for the economy and environment.
