Gas Prices Mostly Flat; Honolulu Up a Penny

Hawaii gas prices dipped or remained flat in most areas across the islands during the past week, although Honolulu’s average gas price went up by one cent, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $2.81, the same price as last Thursday, six cents higher than a month ago, and six cents lower than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com

In Honolulu, today’s average price is $2.69, which is up a penny from last Thursday, nine cents more since on this date last month and two cents lower than last year.  The Hilo average price is $2.70, a penny less since as last Thursday, six cents higher than last month and 12 cents lower than on this date a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.23, which is the same price as last Thursday, one cent less than on this date last month and eight cents less than on this date a year ago.

“Gas prices in the western United States continue to be the highest in the country: Hawaii ($2.81), California ($2.79), Washington ($2.71), Alaska ($2.64) and Oregon ($2.52),” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “AAA Hawaii reminds drivers that they can save money by making sure their vehicle’s maintenance is up to date so it may perform to reach the best fuel economy.”
