Hanabusa and Case Support a Stimulus that ‘Doesn’t Create Local Jobs’

Last night, Hawaii’s three congressional candidates for the first district race had their first debate of cycle.

Of note: Ed Case calls the federal stimulus “necessary” and Colleen Hanabusa repeatedly says we “need” the stimulus. In sharp contrast, fiscal conservative Charles Djou says he has the greatest confidence on, not the government, but the average American and small entrepreneur. Djou talks about lessening the burden on small businesses, the true engine of our economy, so that small businesses can thrive and create real jobs. He concludes by asking the average American, “How has the stimulus affected you?”

The ‘Associated Press’ answered Djou’s question today with the headline: “Stimulus cash doesn’t create local jobs.”

The AP analysis of stimulus spending pokes holes in Ed Case’s and Colleen Hanabusa’s claims that massive spending projects will revitalize the economy.
