Today’s ‘Honolulu Star-Bulletin’ confirms what many of us already know. As voters get to know Colleen Hanabusa, support for her First Congressional bid grows.
While we’ve been getting lots of positive support in the community, we’ve now got independent, third party proof of our progress. Just one month ago, the Honolulu Advertiser poll pegged the race this way:
*Ed Case 47%
*Charles Djou 26%
*Colleen Hanabusa 17%
*Other 10%
The more recent Star-Bulletin/KITV poll of 403 voters in the first congressional district shows a lot of favorable movement. Likely voters were asked their preference in the special election which will be held to fill the vacancy left by Congressman Neil Abercrombie’s resignation effective February 28, 2010. The margin of error is +/- 5 percent.
*Ed Case 37%
*Colleen Hanabusa 25%
*Charles Djou 17%
*Undecided 21%
Poll results in a primary election contest between Ed Case and Senator Hanabusa also show growing support for Hanabusa. There were 272 respondents and the margin of error is +/- 6 percent.
*Ed Case 48%
*Colleen Hanabusa 33%
*Undecided 19%
This is a great achievement considering that the other two candidates have been running for nearly a year now and one’s even already started advertising on television.
“While the poll shows we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, it also says that in the short time we’ve been campaigning, support for my candidacy has grown tremendously,” Hanabusa said. “The more we reach out, the stronger and stronger that support grows, and I’m grateful for the consideration voters of the district are giving me.”
Mahalo for all that you’ve already done and for your kokua going forward. Together we will send the candidate who has the most experience, compassion, judgment and integrity to Congress
