The 8th Annual “Sunset Serenade” Summer Concert Series at the Waterfront Stage is sponsored by SushiMan Hawaii Kai and are FREE to the public.
The final concert in the series features multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winners Kapena, who will be performing at the Waterfront Stage on Saturday, August 18th at 5:30 p.m.
Kapena, formed in 1984, is one of the best known and most loved names in Hawaiian contemporary music. The band, consisting of Kelly Boy De Lima on vocals and uke, Kalena De Lima on keyboards and vocals, Lilo De Lima on bass and vocals and Kapena De Lima on drums, has released over 20 albums and compilation albums and won multiple Na Hoku Hanohano awards.
In addition to touring the Hawaiian Islands, Kapena has performed in the South Pacific from Tahiti to Tonga, in Asia from Japan to China and on the Mainland from Alaska to Texas. Their popularity has grown as fast as the demand for their talent. Often called Hawaii’s hardest-working band, they can be found playing nightly in Waikiki.
Kapena’s hits include songs like “Masese,” “Sea of Heartbreak,” “Blue Darlin’ Kaduvu,” “Love Song of Kalua,” “Why Glitttery Eyes” and “Everlasting Lover.”
During the “Sunset Serenade,” food by participating Hawaii Kai Towne Center restaurants will be available in the breezeway near the Waterfront Stage for your convenience.
