Hawaii Red Cross Continues Response to Dangerous North Shore Surf

HONOLULU, HI – January 22, 2014:  Hawaii Red Cross is responding to the dangerous surf forecasted to arrive on the North Shore tonight.  Red Cross volunteers will be on stand-by in the Sunset Beach area from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Volunteers will be available to provide care, comfort and crisis counseling to North Shore residents. Red Cross will provide residents with extra tools and supplies for their homes, along with home repair kits compliments of Grainger.  If there is a need for an evacuation, the Red Cross is prepared to with work with the county to open shelters.

“We are always ready to respond to disasters that occur,” said Coralie Matayoshi, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross, Hawaii State Chapter.  “Whether it’s a cleanup kit, supplies or a shoulder to lean on, our volunteers are ready to support those affected.”
