The new containers, which are designed with the latest technology to keep perishable commodities fresh and secure during transport, arrived at the Port of Tacoma last week.
These ongoing investments in new equipment and operational improvements by Horizon Lines continue to make a significant impact on the quality and reliability of service available to U.S. shippers in the Hawaii trade.

Horizon Lines’ refrigerated container program includes several design enhancements developed by the company’s commercial and engineering teams. The new containers include enhanced insulation and stronger floors that improve operating efficiency and durability. Each container is equipped with a new style of door lock seal, and the cooling unit itself is bolted into place with a wire-seal to detect unauthorized access. These advancements make the containers more secure to handle high-value perishable inventory.
