TOM BERG

BY TOM BERG – Aloha, fellow residents of West Oahu. As you probably know already, Todd Apo has resigned from the City Council to take a job with the private sector. This leaves the communities from Ewa to Waianae UNREPRESENTED on the City Council, where important decisions are being made that affect our daily lives and our pocketbooks. A special election will be held next month in December by mail-in ballot and early walk-in voting only. The winner of this election will represent our neighborhoods on the Council full-time for the next two years . . . and possibly longer. It is crucial that we send the right person to Honolulu Hale (City Hall) to speak for us and to represent our views.

My name is Tom Berg. I would like your support to become that City Councilman. As a legislative aide at the State Capitol for the past eleven years (working for both Democrats and Republicans), I have fought for the residents of West Oahu every day. I already understand how government works (and does not work) and will be ready to serve you in this non-partisan position from Day One. More importantly, I have volunteered in our communities for a dozen years: working to improve parks and roads, performing litter cleanups, organizing town hall meetings, serving on Neighborhood Board, coaching youth sports, preserving historic sites, and videotaping and broadcasting important events in West Oahu.

You will be receiving a ballot by mail in early December. You’ll also have the opportunity to do “walk in early voting” from mid to late December. Please get to know all the candidates before casting your very important vote. Some final words about me. Who I am: A fighter for the people in the 1st Council District. Who I’m not: A professional politician fighting for special interests. Don’t be surprised if some people spend a fortune trying to win your vote during the weeks ahead. That’s how important a City Council seat is to special interest groups. I pledge to represent working families who pay the taxes that keep the City & County running. I do NOT represent those who are trying to get their hands on your hard-earned money.

Thanks for considering my candidacy. I’m ready to start right away and am eager to be of service.

Submitted by Tom Berg, Candidate for City Council, District One, Ewa, Ewa Beach, Honouliuli, West Loch, Kapolei, Kalaeloa (Barbers Point), Honokai Hale, Nanakai Gardens, Ko Olina, Nanakuli, Maili, Waianae, Makaha, Keaau, and Makua
