BY MICHELE VAN HESSEN – If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, than Representative Marumoto must be humbled by the amount of flattery she is receiving.

Other legislators have imitated her brown tree snake prevention bill, All-TerrainVehicle safety bill and Kahala bills.  Rep. Marumoto’s proposal to re-start the dog detection program was heard and scooped into the Agriculture Chair’s bill.

The ATV measure picks up her ideas to prohibit passengers, ban those under 16 from using ATVs and require helmet use.  Her bills to deter irresponsible landowners from keeping messy and neglected properties were copied in the House as well as the Senate.  All bills are still alive.

Republicans often get asked “How many bills did you get passed?”  Marumoto’s answer is “I am not in the bill passing business.  I am in the idea-launching industry!”
