BY RANDY BRUMMETT RA – A beautifully landscaped yard can make a real difference in curb appeal. Not only that, but trees can add value to your home as well.
The more mature the tree, the more value it adds. Trees can be costly to buy, though; the bigger the tree, the more it will cost you. That’s why planning ahead can be a real money saver.
I usually buy trees in one to two gallon sizes when I’m embarking on a landscaping project. The price will be significantly less than if you were to buy more mature trees in the three to five gallon sizes. In time, the small trees will become big trees and provide an attractive, cost-effective investment that will pay off in a few short years.
The great part is that you can enjoy the beauty yourself in the meantime. Add a few other varieties of plants and flowering shrubs, and you will have the Garden Island feel right outside your front door. Even if you are planning on selling now, the added beauty and the prospect of having a head start on landscaping will no doubt be a real incentive to potential buyers. So, head down to your local nursery, pick out a few of your favorite trees and shrubs, grab your shovel, and start the planting.
