KAPA‘A – A 23-year-old Kapa‘a man was uninjured last night after crashing his Jeep Cherokee into a Kapa‘a restaurant. The incident occurred at approximately 9:55 p.m. after the restaurant had closed.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the Jeep lying on its roof on the lanai of Lemongrass Grill Seafood and Bar. The driver who was the sole occupant had made his way out of the vehicle unharmed.
The Jeep sustained major damages.
The restaurant also sustained damages to its rock wall, glass doors, tables, chairs and decorative items.
Traffic on Kūhi‘ō Highway was stopped for approximately 20 minutes while the vehicle was removed from the scene.
An investigation of the incident is continuing, but it is suspected that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
